If anyone knows of any BU tunnels >(really knows, not just rumors), I'd love to check 'em out. Who needs steenking steam tunnels when you have the "T" ??? When I was at BU we explored abandoned subway tunnels and not-so-abandoned access ways. There's the old tunnels for the abandoned Broadway line, that twenty years ago still had drums of civil defense supplies for fallout shelter usage. There's a large stairwell (at the end of Charlesgate East, maybe West, the road, if I remember right) that leads down to the underground Green Line tracks between Auditorium and Kenmore Square. You can see the doorway as your trolley speeds by. Upstairs from the tracks is a small room with a view of the live trolley wire and a BIG knife switch that leads you-guess-where. On a different trip, a friend visited the loop of track that goes above the downtown end of the Kenmore track. He reported some annoying graffiti, though: "Ha, ha BU engineers, NU got here first!"
